I was home last weekend helping out my dad. Ended up doing a lot of towing and trailering. Here are some pictures. I love my Grand Marquis and its ability to tow like a truck.

This is what 1000 lbs of lead look like. My dad scrapped his old sail boat and this came out of the keel.

More scrap metal. Made me $400.

Had to move one of the project cars out of the way

to make room for some racking

Nice little trip to the hazardous waste facility. I got scolded for having way more than their 125 lb load limit.

Dump run is always fun as well. Love just throwing stuff on the ground.

It's more of a truck than most SUVs these days.

Started off life as a harbor freight trailer, and my dad and I have subsequently broken just about ever part of the original trailer and built it up stronger. Bent the tongue in half hauling sod, snapped the axle hauling concrete debris from bathroom remodel etc. New tongue is thick C channel aluminum and the new axle is the front end out of an old ford pickup. Pretty much all that is original is the frame that holds up the bed, but its no longer structural as its welded to a new beefier subframe.

When I was a kid my dad used his Gran Torino to tow with and it did a fine job of it. Ford even offered two different towing packages for it. That car later became my first car.
